I am in love with a friend. I just ended a 7 years relationship, and I started going out with this "friend".He mentioned several that he did not want to be in a rebound relationship. He is younger than me, and now we are not romantic involved anymore, but we still remain good friends. I guess I know the answer but I still want to hear.

It is hard to know much from one paragraph in what is likely a pretty complex situation. But, I would not be so sure it is over. He has a right to be scared about being the rebound guy. It might be hard for you to stay friends with someone if you have pretty strong romantic feelings for him. But, I think this is something which could flower romantically later.

If being friends is ok for you then like they used to say on Sports Center, "His status is day to day, just like everyone else in the league."

I agree with Savman, that it is impossible to respond completely without knowing more. He could be simply moving on. You can pick up signals about this in the way he responds to you now.

On the other hand, he could be hanging around because he's attached to you, but hurt and cautious because you displayed attachment and ongoing bonding to your former boyfriend. It is hard sometimes to see the cues we send to others. They might be from habit, and they might be from more. Either way, it is healthy to find some space to let the water clear from the debris of disengagement so your heart can be seen.

Good luck. You seem genuine. You'll be a catch for someone when you're ready.
