I honestly thought the discussion boards were a place for fun and maybe a place to get some constructive and diverse opinions. After posting my own question and reading the responses, along with reading a few of the other threads, I don't believe this method of communication will work for me. The culture seems too mean-spirited for my tastes. I'm sure this forum works for many, but I think I'll find another outlet for advice and communication.

I'm sure I'll be attacked as being unrealistic and weird but....oh well. Everyone has their opinion.

Ciao!

I think it depends on the question and the poster. Sometimes, the poster will post the same exact question multiple times looking for different answers. Sometimes similar questions have been posted a ton of times by different posters and people just get tired of asking them. I think if you stick around and maybe lurk a bit you may find some regular posters who are not rude or impatient and whose opinions you might actually like to hear. Then maybe go back to posting. You can also send a friend request to those people and, if accepted, you can see on what posts your friends have posted so you can read what they've had to say.

Hi kaecee

I'm new to these boards as well. You should know that the posts here are meant to give you constructive criticism, and even if some seem harsh, they are not a personal attack at you directly.
For the most part I think everyone is here to help, even newbies like myself. I haven't had much experience here yet, but I hope you'll stick around and give it more of a chance - it reallly can be helpful!!

kaecee,

I don't think you're unrealistic or weird, and I'm sorry if our Community isn't what you hoped it would be. We've got plenty of "rough", it's true (not atypical for a Community of people who are dealing with the often painful ups and downs of dating and relationships) but there's plenty of diamond here, too, and when it sparkles, it's nearly blinding.

I reviewed your thread. Thing is, whenever we ask "why do guys always do (insert unseemly action here)" or "why are women always (insert unseemly action here)", you're probably going to hear views from the gender under scrutiny that DON'T support that view. It's natural to want to defend "yourself" (or, in this case your gender). I wouldn't take it personally.

I hope you'll change your mind and stick around. I have a feeling that if you do, you'll be glad you did.

No matter what I wish you all the best and hope you find the love you're looking for.

Best,
-Lori

P.S. I'm going to close this thread now because these types of threads typically take a turn for the worse...I think it's best if it ends on a positive note
