I always send a quick email when I get home from a great first date thanking my date for such a great time and hoping to be able to do it again. That way there is no miscommunication or assumptions as to how I felt it went. Make it short, sweet and to the point then let the other respond.

First, you need to breathe. Congratulations on having a fun first date!

Understand that a first date (even a good one) very seldom leads to a second date and you'll probably go on a lot of first dates before you meet someone you'll spend enough time with to actually determine compatibility.

If it's driving you crazy and all you can do is think of him, you need to step back a bit and remember that it takes time to get to know someone and that the desire to do that has to be mutual. Send him an email and tell him you had a great time and would love to see him again. See if he responds. If he doesn't, let it go. You want someone who wants the same things you do.

Good luck.

The thing is...there aren't really any 'rules' about what works for everyone on this. If you are comfortable calling him, telling him that you enjoyed yourself a lot and suggesting a second date (have a couple of specific things and days in mind) then you sure should go ahead and do so.

If that is outside your comfort level, then you must resign yourself to waiting for him to make the call....myself? I call. I'd rather know if there was interest in seeing me again than be waiting for him to call.

And, as LBMM said, you need to remember that there are a lot of first meets before you get to second, third or fourth dates. Lots of them.

Best to learn to not set up too many unrealistic expectations about outcomes.
