Men, why not close if your not interested?

Can someone clarify this for me please? This continues to happen....when I FINALLY find one or two people I am interesting in out of 50 matches, I send a Icebreaker or my 1st 5 questions.....and they never respond, nor do they close the match. A week will go by and nothing....so I don't use nudges anymore, it is starting to seem silly...I know you have viewed my profile, so if you are not interested, why not just close. Simple. Heck, I do....I don't want to waste anyone's time, so I handle it right away. Can someone tell me why not close, it isn't like they know me yet...so what's the big deal? So, I end up closing by day 7 now. But the frustrating thing is, 9 times out of 10, every match that I have tried to communicate with, I end up closing because nothing happens. Just close me all ready. LOL! Can someone enlighten me?

P.S. Oh yea, I know I'm not going to be everyone's type, but my profile & pics are cute! Got the approval from many, that are brutally honest...lol!

As others who know better than I would say: most of your matches are non-paying members who can't respond even if they wanted to. There are many threads on this very complaint.

I never thought of that....that is some insight...because I am about ready to pull the plug on this whole thing and call it quits! Lol! Thanks

As Iconography said most, about 90%, of your matches are going to be non-paying members who can't respond. Most non-paying members are also non-active so they will not view your profile or close you.

Now you said that you see that these matches are viewing you so while they could still be non-paying members they are at least active. There could be a number of reasons that they don't respond. Just as you have many matches they could already be in communication with several other matches and don't want to start communicating with you right away because they can't keep track of more matches. If they viewed you and did not close then there is some interest.

A word about IceBreakers. DON'T send IceBreakers if you are a paying member. IceBreakers are widely viewed as an indication that the person is a non-paying member. Send First Questions.

Another word about how you handle your matches. I would recommend that you communicate with any match that does not have red flags in the profile. It also cost you nothing to leave matches open instead of closing after a week.

Gr8Guyn2008...I had no clue that's what Icebreakers would mean...oh wow! And I am a paying member. So they may have a lot of communicating matches, huh? I wish I had a lot of matches to juggle thru! Lol! I close after a week, because before I would send a nudge and still nothing, so I just get over it and close it...I have been on here since May and have only communicated with one person, and I had to keep asking for a photo and once I got the pic, it was of time because he wasn't my type. But you sort of have a point, doesn't cost anything to leave them open...we shall see... Thanks!

If someone is not active and not paying how long do they stay in the database? I mean, if you haven't been active for monhs would they still send you as a match?
I am getting ready to end my paying subscription, but I would still like to keep my profile active until I want matches again.
I turned off active matching, so I won't hurt anybody's feelings. But I want to be able to reactivate when my life is a little less hectic.

Appreciate the info. I didn't realize the icebreakers indicated a non-paying member.
