I have a crush on my lecturer. Its driving me insane thinking whether he feels the same way about me. Should I ask him out? Would it be awkward for a student to ask a lecturer out?

Unless you are in a tiny class he does not even know you exist and yes, it's completely out of line to approach him that way. You could cost him his job and I doubt he would be interested in that. Being in college you have so many options....for pity's sake find something better to chase after.....

I wholeheartedly agree. Please don't put him in this awkward situation. I taught college part-time about 10 years ago and had a student of mine hit on me, and it was extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate. There is a line there that we're not to cross, despite what Hollywood would like you to believe, and yes, it can cost him his job if he doesn't handle it appropriately.

Absolutely not. A student / teacher thing can be seen as a harassment issue.

Crushes eventually uncrush themselves, they're not exactly real; i doubt there are many teachers out there who don't have at least one person with a crush on them, but they don't do anything about them because it's unprofessional and gets them fired.

Bad, bad idea. Just get through the class and move on. I had a crazy crush on a teacher once and looking back I'm pretty sure he knew it even though I never said anything. That little crush just made me work harder so I would ace the class. I worked for that "A" harder than I had worked for anything in my life. I thought my hard work would impress him. Anyway I think we all go through this at one time or another. So just enjoy your little crush and move on. Years from now you will laugh about it. I am still laughing!

Most schools if not all frown upon teacher-student romance, don't they? He could lose his job - so no, I'd suggest not crossing that line and asking him out while you're a student there.

Now that I think about it, the student can be expelled from the school too. Good luck getting into another school after that - pretty damaging in the long run.

Agreed. Let this one go. Find another co-student and get to know more people at your school ~ bound to be somebody you hit it off with. These types of crushes are basically that, just crushes (aka fantasy) and fantasies don't ever work out.

And yes, like everybody said, it's actually illegal and jobs/jail can come into play (although in this case probably only a job since I assume you are "of age").
