I know that a lot of the younger women don't have a problem asking a man out on a date. But for those of us who are over 50 who were raised to believe that the man initiates everything...what do you think? This is the 21st century - have things really changed for us and what do the older men think about being asked out by a woman?

If I was attracted to you, wonderful.

If I was not, well, men have been dealing with getting rejected for a long time.

Pussinboots, I know, I know. How do you guys deal with that?

I believe this guy is interested in me based on some interaction and discussion and I am about to take the plunge. Don't believe I have ever done it before (you know the memory is the first thing to go - or is it hearing - I don't remember!). Anyway I am really scared!

Real men like that the woman has taken the initiative. We then know that at least there is some interest on your part. If a guy is put off by you asking him out then that is a sign of some sort of control issues and you would not want him anyway. The only thing that has really changed in the 21st century is that women are now exercising some of what they should have been doing all along.

Also if this guy is through eHarmony or another dating site then you are paying just like everyone else and are entitled to use ALL the services available.

I am over 50 and feel the same way. I ride the train and the metro. I see guys looking at me, but no one ever says anything to me. I am very confident and independent. Maybe I send out the wrong vibes. Although I read things that say men like confident women, I don't think it is true.

I was kind of hoping that. I figured we women are flattered when men ask us out so why wouldn't a man feel flattered that someone is interested enough to ask.

He's not from a dating site. To tell the truth I don't like meeting people through the dating sites - that has never worked out for me.

I know it's difficult for men but they are trained to learn how to ask women out. Do men really understand how difficult it can be for a woman to do the same? I have daughters and I am trying my very best to teach them to be a little more "liberated" than their old mother and not to be big chickens (even though I am a big chicken)!

Anyway I am going to go for it either today or tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Just be friendly, open and make conversation. If there is interest he'll ask you out. The way things work hasn't changed all that much. Some guys who are players, will feel (even if they are married or in a relationship), that if you approach them they have the
"I couldn't help it..see really came onto me " excuse. That's the only down side I see to this.

Good luck, but if it doesn't work out, you will have one under your belt, so to speak.

A wonan initiating GC with me was the reason I became a paying member of eH, by the way. Even though it didn't work out for me, you might be able to change some guy's life for the better!

You sound like a lovely lady, so if this guy is any good himself, you probably won't need that much luck at all.
