What about self confidence and knowing yourself? Trust in your intuition and proceed in accordance to what you feel is appropriate for both of you. Above all communication is the key to success either way. If you are aware of the possibilities either way, then you are ahead of the curve.

It does not seem you are being irrational or mislead but again, be protective of your feelings. Meeting as soon as possible can dispel any false perceptions. Some times, you can meet someone and get to know them in person or not, and not really have the full image of who they are. It all depends on the person and where they are in life - it takes two as well.

My experience has been to meet them sooner than later and follow your gut. On the positive side, I met the man I am about to marry through LDR and we knew meeting in person would seal the deal - it did. Be confident and know if it doesn't turn out, you will be okay to move forward regardless.
