Start by treating him like a normal human being as opposed to some alien creature that you need to do research on "all over the internet".

It would help you more to pick up an anthropological book on Egyptian culture and customs to educate you more on his background. Then you can talk with him on his level about what he's expecting out of your relationship.

Other countries have very subtle differences in dating and marriage. And if he is sort that's very traditional, that may clash with our more progressive culture.

Good luck

Welcome to eha!

I would worry less where someone was born and focus more on what their current personality, likes, dislike, expectations etc. are.

The fact that he is currently living in Canada means that he is used to the local culture variety. He may or may not even practice any traditions different from you whether related to religion or another culture.

Many people relocate around the world today. It's not so much location but what you do have in common.

Like any relationship...look for dealbreakers that do not fit well with you. What are you willing to accept...what is a dealbreaker? As you get to know him...you'll either find you make a great couple or not.

Good luck!

well...is he a direct descendant of Tutankhamun? If so, that could be a problem.

Absolutely! Watch out for stereotypes! Get to know him for who he is, not for who everyone else on the Internet who don't even know him might think he is.

Why on earth would it mater that someone you're attracted to (enough to date even) was born in another country? Besides any language or cultural differences, just get to know him as a person. Oh, and keep an open mind. There ya go, you kids have fun.

A persons cultural background plays a large part in how they conduct themselves in the world. As always it's important to get to know the person, but in this instance it is ALSO very important that they both understand each others backgrounds. It could help in avoiding minor embarrassing moments and also certain faux pas that could cause frustrating situations to arise.

Besides it never hurts to become more educated either.

Forget the Internet and concentrate on getting to know him.

Thanks to the people who gave me some good advice....Tao - Thanks to you for being so nice.

I don't have a problem that he comes from a different country or I would not be dating him. I just was really hoping that maybe someone on here might have dated someone from there and could give me some advice but I am having a great time getting to know him and we have discuss alot of Culture differences. I did have someone that had dated a guy from there send me a personal message and it was great!
