I am posting this poll to see how many people prefer or are looking for a traditional relationship, ie... man goes to work, woman stays home and takes care of the household(like the Leave it to Beaver show), or a more modern type relationship with two incomes, child in daycare, and so on and so forth.

I personally grew up with a traditional upbringing, along with many of my friends growing up, and it has seeped into my character.

I prefer a combination. I'd like a modern relationship with my wife, but would be open to her staying home once we have children rather than relying on daycare, at least until that child is old enough to start headstart/kindergarten. But if she wanted to continue to work full-time after maternity leave and the childcare was trustworthy I would be open to that as well.

I'm willing to work, and the man can stay home and take care of the house.

I would encourage my future wife to stay in the work force for most of our lives.

However, if she wanted to take care of the household for periods of time then that would be OK.

I think that a working mother provides a much better role model for children... especially for girls. I also think that is far healthier for a woman to not be with a child 24/ 7. It is better for the father to cut back on work & take sole care of the child from time to time for bonding sake. It is also better for a child to interact with other children at perhaps a day care from time to time.

There are just so many positives for a mother to be at least a part-time worker.

I'm sure you do,a "traditional relationship" is most often a woman's choice...men however most often have no choice and must continue in their traditional role

+1 Also depending upon the woman's income level and the number of children, it may actually be more cost effective for the wife to stay home with the children until they are in school full time (usually 1st grade). Of course, in my opinion there are other benefits to the family if the wife is the child care provider but for fear of being jumped I'll keep my mouth closed and focus on the topic that seems to be most important in a relationship to the men on this site: Money

I stayed home with my daughter when I was married & for the first few months of my son's life until I got divorced and LOVED it. There were many things I contributed to the household besides money and I think my children & my homelife benefitted from it. However, in saying that, I will never stay home again and leave myself totally unprepared for the unexpected as I was when my ex left.

I'm perfectly willing to do the housework and raise the kids if she has a career and wants to work. I already had my career, I want her to do what she wants, and if that's having a career or going to school then embark on a career, go for it, I'll do what ever else needs to be done. I'm all for supporting my mate in all she does and wants to do.
