Hello, I tend to disagree with you . Many animals are loyal and loving to human beings. And as far as goldfish go, alot of people find them relaxful, even though they spend their life swimming around in a bowl. The fish tend to relax many human beings. The article was a very good one to read on animals.
I agree with you statements. It was a GREAT read on why animals are a boon to our lives. But the article was titled as to what we could learn from animals to improve our lives. It tried to simplify our existences to things that could be solved in the way that animals live. Ridiculous.

It was no more helpful than the plethora of diet books that come out each year with "THE ANSWER" to weight loss. One size does NOT fit all-especially when dealing with human beings.

I enjoyed this article. I felt the simplicity of it certainly fits the subject- animals do live simple lives, very much so in comparison to our own. And I do feel they can teach us different ways of handling life, if we would take the time to notice. But it's up to us to do the work, up to us to apply thementioned points to the way we live our own lives. The article offers the basics, we must determine how to use them.

I don't think the article is saying that our animals are capable of teaching us in the sense that they will guide us throughthe steps of learning. Also, it's not comparing humans to animals. It's simply pointing out the different character traits they innately possess thatcan help us.

All of the traits mentioned in the article are ones I've already thought about, but the ones that stand out are about not holding a grudge and learning to relax. The last one is particularly important to me, as I tend toenjoy keeping busy, sometimes to the potentialdetriment of my health.

Having a cat helps me to remain aware of the importance of taking time to "chill out."She's a master at it, andserves me well in helping me to learn this. It's all about paying attention.

Excellent article.

I have learned a lot from my cat..when I ask her a question..sometimes she answers me...other times she ignores me..(Like a man does)..when I tell her things Like.."my knee hurts" or I am coughing-choking on a drink that went down the wrong way...she will meow in a certain way..as if to say.."MOMMY..are you all right"? it is so cute. I ask her if she wants a treat..she will respond with a big deer jump..and sniff the packet of food before I open it,and sometimes I tell her to "sit and wait for it",she obeys pretty well...other times when I'm still trying to get it ALL in the dish--she will take the dish from me...It is so funny.sometimes she will let me know when her water dish is empty and I am the only one who understands her. I think we have a "Psychic connection"-she can hear what I am thinking. I heard it from a pet psychic years ago. I also ask my cat if she wants hugs and kisses..she will say meow..I ask her if she luvs mommy...she says MEOW...even when she gets nervous a lot I talk to her and say it's ok. and she lets me know she wants held a lot more. I need to make3 more clones of me sometimes..hee hee. 1 to hold kitty more..1 to do housework..cook..etc. 1 to run errands-etc. so the real me can sleep. I only get 2 -3 1/2 hours at a time. I get woke up a lot. sometimes by my cat, sometimes by my computer..weather alert...etc. or someone popping on yahoo messenger...other times I get woke up by my dreams. OH..OMG-am I going on about me?? sorry. anyway..My cat and I were scared to death when the earthquake hit--around april 18-08-she wouldn't sleep up on her big chair after that. my cat is sweet,loveable...doesn't like certain people at times. I even wrote part of the 10 kitty commandments according to my cat. 1 of them is "YOU don't own me human--I OWN you. I'm NOT going to say the rest. hope you get a laugh as much as I do. even though you get angry at all cats when they "MOO' like a cow...and drive you NUTS and when they make a mess on the floor every once in a while--or they have an OCD problem about chewing on plastic bags, climbing in your basket...getting litter or cat crunchies on the floor...they still love us...and we forgive them and they forgive us for getting angry. later.

My furry little guy is the best! In fact, one of my bosses told me.." I think that you are better off with a dog then a man." I looked at him and thought for a moment and then responded. "Well maybe you are right. He will always love me. Never leave me and I can put him in a cage if I want to." My boss just looked at me with a smirk and shook his head and I am sure was thinking..."what are we going to do with her?"

Have a great day!

Namaste.

I agree that dogs have a way of telling you who's good and who's not since they bark and growl at those they don't like. But seriously my dog barks at everything he hears outside. He hears the neighbors dog barking, so he barks along and if he senses a cat or see's the local garbage truck go down the alley he barks non stop.

Well I also admit that pets are good communicators and can give you a warm hug if your feeling blue or just not in high spirits. They seem to know when your feeling down or not feeling well, since that's when they pay the most attention to you, iike they are extremely concerned.

I have seen this one bumper sticker and cup that said : The more I know about men, the MOre I like my dog! LOL NOt to be funny but as always they are good men out there and there are the jerky treat type of men out there also. So That's why they say MR RIght is rare to find, but also it takes a lot of time to find him too.

Also I haven't seen a dog lover lovematching site but that would be funny since how can your dogs and cats help you to find love?? I mean I heard dogs saying I love you in a bark but a cat meowing that is too funny.

Anyway, I will say that pets overall are there to give us comfort, protection and companionship and are there for us when they need us most. I mean they do protect you and alert you if there are intruders nearby, etc, so It might be a good thing to help find a date when meeting at the local dog park.

I agree 100%. Thats why I have my three classy kitties and wont ever give them up =). They have been there when I have had nothing and not been nice, and still loved me the same. People overthink things and personalize. It's called EGO. Something humans have and pets dont. Perhaps we should take a cue from pets and dump the EGOs too.
