Maybe try private lessons if really do want to learn how to dance but save the meet-up type activities for something more fun. I have even read about ping-pong groups, that would probably have more men.

If you're a natural, you probably would enjoy private classes. You can progress at your own pace. Don't give up something for which you have a talent just because the familiar is easier. You may be the sort of person who regrets it later.

It depends on the type of dance, and instructor. I have been in some workshops where men outnumbered women.

Oh, here is some Tango humor:

Are you planning on staying just in that class, or do you plan on going to dances to see if there are more eligible men out there? I would get through the class, then see about going to dances somewhere else to hopefully find a partner. Even if you don't have a guy to dance with now, there are unattached men out there who dance(example-tangochef). Besides, you will have learned a new , and fun skill that you didn't know how to do before.( to me, that puts you ahead of the game) Practice patience, and you WILL be rewarded.
