Now that we've had regular Pet peeves, how about some Traffic Pet Peeves?

Oh, my! I could fill up a whole thread with these!! I drive a lot for a living--about 500 miles on an average week, but it's been as high as 1200 in 6 days--so I see a lot of things that make me crazy. I think the worst is the people who won't use their cruise control on the interstate and/or won't maintain a steady speed. They play leapfrog all the way !

I've never been a really big fan of drivers who feel the need to occupy more than one lane at a time. As my sister is fond of saying, "One lane per customer!" I find it even more irritating, not to mention somewhat frightening, when drivers in oncoming traffic do this. There's a yellow line for a reason!

I thought of another one. On a multi-lane (3+) highway, and someone is in the fast lane going exactly the speed limit or a little less, and they don't bother moving over into the middle lane so the people in the fast lane can actually go fast. I had one guy purposely sit there right at the speed limit, I could see him shaking his head at me in his mirror. The silly thing is, he had pulled into my lane right in front of me, so it wasn't like I zoomed up behind him expecting him to move over for me. For miles he sat at the exact same speed as the car next to him, so I couldn't even get around (was a 2 lane). I don't know what his deal was.

Drivers who don't use their turn signals. Grrr! The turn signal is a communications device, people! Making lane changes or left/right turns without using the turn signal probably triples the risk of near-collisions with other drivers.

And don't get me started on cellphones and texting! I was rear-ended at an intersection at a red light because some dingy coed was on her phone and rolled into the back of my car when the light turned green (and I couldn't move because the dummy in the car in front of me was texting on his phone!)

But how will they ever win traffic if other people know what they're about to do???

Seriously, I hate that turn signals are apparently an option only found in the super duper mega deluxe ultra gold package on cars these days.

If you can't talk on your cell phone and drive at the same time without me noticing that you're talking on your cell phone (because you pull out into traffic too far before stopping, or don't look, or change lanes dangerously, or lose 10mph the second your phone rings) either pull over or hang up.

If you make me deal with your inadequacies, you aren't going to like the way I do it.

I have three... well, that immediately come to mind...

1) When you stop to let someone over (merge), in front of you, or cross and they don't send a *friendly* hand gesture thanking you for doing so.

2) When you are on the Interstate and you know a lane is ending and traffic is backed up for miles, the DBs who run the lane to jump ahead. Like if they entered a bank and there was a line, they'd just cut the line b/c they shouldn't have to wait like the rest of us.

3) When you signal to switch lanes and the guy behind you in the lane you are merging into speeds up so you can't get in front of him.
