Seen any good absurdities lately? I just read this - Woman drives to meet friends at a bar and play pool. Drinks some amount of alcohol, gets in car, doesn't wear seatbelt, drives car off the side of the road, overcorrects and flips car. Is suing the bar for allegedly not carding her - she was 20, not 21, at the time - and suing the state because the shoulder of the road wasn't "safe".

Reminds me of the story of a guy at a company I used to work for. He would go into the office on Saturdays to download naughty pictures on his office computer. Security monitored his PC and he was fired for violating company internet policy and misuse of company assets. He then attempted to sue the company for invasion of privacy.

Please tell me the case was dismissed with prejudice and he had to pay costs, or his attorney was barred from intelligent society for life, or something..

Given the usual approach the company took to things (waaaaaaay risk averse), they probably gave him some money to go away peacefully.

That said, I hold out a little bit of hope that the scenario you paint was the true resolution.

There was a woman on our local yelp site that wrote a scathing review for a movie theater here. Her reason for the one star review? The R Rated movie (Girl with a Dragon Tattoo) she took her 4 year old child to see was too violent. She apparently thought it was the theater's responsibility to not allow them to see the movie because they had a child with them, and/or to have more warnings posted that the movie was violent.

The review is now deleted otherwise I'd post it. But it was absolutely ridiculous.

The way I see it, these aren't examples of people being crazy; they are examples of people being irresponsible, self-centered and immature. And in my opinion, they get that way because our society (and our legal system) indulges and coddles their "You owe me!" mentality.

I thought nothing was ever all one person's fault. My understanding is that it's a sign of maturity and personal growth when employers, bartenders, movie owners and significant others always shoulder half of the blame for negative outcomes.

Company machines and company email is considered property of the company and they can do whatever they want with it. Whatever case was probably just thrown out.

Similarly, anything you post or pm here is the property of eHarmony. Have fun trying to sue them if you get banned for sending an obnoxious pm.
