So this is a totally new experience for me, someone contacted me on a online dating site for the sole purpose of making fun of my body on the sole bases of the photos I have posted!

I mean, I get insulted in real life sometimes when I pass by a jerk or two but I've never had someone go out of their way to contact me on a dating site to insult me.

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them or I'm I just one lucky special little snow flake?

And I did reply - sweet as pie because for some reason I'm not offended or upset. Rather just sad for the man whose life is such that he feels the need to go around insulting people online whom he has never met.

It is very unfortunate that you had to experience such rude behavior. The guy is an obvious jerk as well as extremely childish. I would never do such a thing to someone. But, I have to wonder about you. I have read quite a few of your threads/posts and it seems like weight, body type, etc. is a huge issue for you. Not to say that you should not feel any kind of way about it, but I noticed that you are very passionate about said topic. I can understand since people have been treating you a certain way because of your physical stature.

I am not sure if responding to the person was the right thing to do, but I do believe you were the better person. I believe in karma/reaping what one sows/cause and effect and I know in my heart, that guy will get what is coming to him.

Lastly, I am trying to think if I ever had anyone send an email attacking me..Probably not, but I have had unfortunate experiences of people being rude and unbecoming of a decent human being over trivial stuff. These are the same people who end up putting up with major abuse because they have zero self worth, dignity, class, self respect and so forth. What goes around does come around.

It's never happened to me, but I did catch two people who worked for me sending nasty emails to people on a dating site. Both of them were married and initially created a profile to torment another member of my team who was e-dating..

Oooh! This has never happened to me, but I've been off dating sites for a while so I haven't run into that many people.

I hope you reported this person.

Yes. On Match I had a man contact me with an innocuous initial email, then subsequently send me a virulent diatribe about my hair. He asked me about my hair, if it was still like the cut in the photo, and when I replied that it was a very recent photo and the cut was identical, he went balistic about women and short hair and what an insult it was to womankind and how could someone who could have been beautiful destroy her beauty and femininity with this insult to women and God and the Bible and didn't I WANT ment to find me attractive and was I really a lesbian and was I just doing it to taunt men because they could see how hot I COULD have been if I hadn't ruined my looks.....

He was insane.

I have, a few times, about my religious "affiliation" (atheist); it was more oblique than direct; as in, "Why are you an atheist? If you weren't I could date you. Are you sure?" sort of BS. Even though I live in one of the most secular parts of the country there's always a few nutters...

I had a couple men send me messages criticizing my profile on OKCupid - things like my stated preferences re: marriage/kids, political opinions (I'm a big proponent of human rights - choice and gay rights are issues I have strong feelings about), basically points in my profile that are very much who I am. That was strange b/c my profile was excellent and more funny/informative than anything else.

I also got an email about how I'm probably stuck up and not as nice as I seem to be and he was sure I wouldn't email back (but if I was nice/not stuck up, I would ). I wonder what kind of response he really thought that would get.

P.S. Guess I am stuck up and mean.

Hey! Me too - I have received the "I am sure you won't respond to my email anyway" message, which is a veiled insult, isn't it?

yes it's happened to me a few times.

insults or disrespectful comments regarding my photo when I've used 'match'. I assumed it was because they were getting a lot of rejection and saw me as an easy target for their revenge?

and the odd email insulting me:-

".......I feel compelled to shake you, to wake you up somehow, but I know it won't make a blind bit of difference. NOT that I would EVER want to meet you, or worse, date you. But, as a fellow human being, take my advice and use the occasion for some constructive introspection."

I got the above as an email after I either winked at someone or sent them a "hello" email and they didn't like my profile. The 'reason' for that email? ..... because I selected the option saying "no" to wanting children!

"Last but not least - you probably don't want children. Let me guess. They're much too much hard work.
they're a drain. Why bother. I believe in the good in people. Children are why we exist after the age of 35, when our creative stamina is all but gone."

There are some real charmers out there!

then sometimes I'd get an email saying "I dont think so! good luck, you'll need it" as a way of saying "no thank you" to my wink as if I was the ugliest person in town!

heh....I've gotten quite a few of those. I'm guessing those clueless creatures are trying to apply the "women love jerks" and "insult her to get her attention" approach....or maybe they are just shooting for lifelong celibacy...
