How do you feel about tattoos? Love 'em, hate 'em, want to get one. Do you have any, what are they, where, and why?

I have one, it's Calvin & Hobbes on my left hip.I think i was maybe 24 whenI got it and I still love it.

I've also wanted to getone in memory of my brother but I don't know where to put it yet.

I have two.

The first was at age 40, to celebrate surviving a potentially life-threatening condition and resetting my goals. It's a spiderweb on my upper arm. The second was a birthday present from the ex a few years later. It's a rose, and it's located ... elsewhere.

I don't have any tatoos but find them fascinating. Personally, I think a tasteful tatoo says something about the person and adds interest. Yesterday I saw a guy with the most beautiful tatoo I've ever seen (at least what I could see of it). It looked like a scene from San Francisco done in a style that resembled Japanese (or Chinese) art - very delicate and tasteful. I'm not really in to full body art.

Why don't I have a tatoo? I've never seen something I'd want to put on my body permanently.

I dont mind tattoos on a partner but I dont have a preference for them either. Tasteful and visually appealing tattoos are okay; large and completely meaningless tattoos are less-so.

I have two, but its very very rare for anyone to notice either (which I like - theyre for me and not for someone else). I have a white one that says 'Love' on the inside of my left wrist that I got after really hard times with ex-friends because I wanted something that was positive, and I think the only thing that makes sense is to live in love (not nescessarily romantic love). I also have a 1 inch hot pink star on the side ofmy left hip(i.e. not front and to the side, but actual side) but you cant see it unless Im not wearing clothing.

I thought about getting one when I was younger, but I could not then, and cannot now answer three questions which preclude me from ever getting a tattoo:

1) What to get? (A hard question in itself)

2) Where to put it? (A much tougher question)

3) Would I be happy with what I got and where it is 10 years from now? 15 years? (The hardest question, which keeps you going back over questions 1 and 2).

I can deal with them if someone has them, but I much prefer them to not be visible all of the time. There's nothing like trying to talk to someone and you can't help wondering why they decided to tattoo their name on their neck (is it so they remember who they are the next morning?)

I think tattoos are kinda sexy if tastefully done. I have considered getting one myself for quite sometime, but it may prove a hindrance in my career path since I would want to get it on my inner forearm.

Tatoo on me? Noooo....uh uh. Pain and blood and me don't mix. Too scary. If they are nicely done as in clear, bright colors not faded or jail type tats then they look pretty cool on other people, just not me. And Tall guy is right. I know exactly what it could look like when I'm sixty something. It would look just like this old guy who had a rose going down the length of his forearm. It was sooo faded and wrinkled (like his skin) it was just gross. No offense to all the tatooed sixty somethings out there.

i have two. The first one is on my upper right arm that says,"be yourself." I got it because it reminds me that through all the different styles and as people change, just be who i have always have been and dont change yourself just because that is what the "trend" is. I also have a four leaf clover on my upper left arm symbolizing my heritageand where i come from.
