Curious - do men talk to their guy buddies about their online matches prior to meeting them?

It's just something I thought of the other day. I know that I share some of my matches' pics and profiles with my close girlfriends. It's not so much to have them approve, it's just another topic to talk about. I also share some of my not so good matches with them as well (can you believe he wrote that or took a picture of himself in the bathroom with his cell phone?) Stuff like that.

Just curious if men do this with their guy buds? Do you all sometimes talk about/share information about a woman match prior to meeting her? Do your guy buddies weigh in on the subject? I have had a few of my internet dates tell me they talked to their guy friends about where we were going to go on the date, or even when their guy friends have advised them about certain things. I found it pretty natural and normal.

Like most everything else to do with topics like this, it's very much an individual preference kind of thing. I never did during the dating years.

I would rarely make mention of an upcoming meeting with a new match. These type of conversations happen only with men in the gym, for me.

If it came up (and it would have to come up, I would not start such a topic of conversation), then I would mention her occupation, and that we're meeting for dinner on Friday. (For example, someone might ask "Will you be here tomorrow?", and I will say "I'm meeting someone for dinner." If he asks who, I'll say "A woman from Match."

The most detail I've ever discussed beforehand would be her occupation and age. Afterward I would give a short summary of my thoughts about her, and whether I sought additional meetings.

I've never shared or displayed profile content or photos - that's in bad taste, to me.

I doubt that many guys talk to their friends about such things. That's more of a woman thing.

This is just how this female sees it. Your mileage may vary.

I think it depends on the guy at least with dating. I do think when men are having a rough time in a relationship they will speak with a good friend about it.

But for dating, I don't think they do this much. A few men do. My ex gave my number out to one of his friends because his friend was driving him crazy over-analyzing every dating experience. That guy was more like a girl than a guy about that stuff. lol! That was fun.

BTW - He has been married for a year now to a match from eh. No more calls from him.

This is similar to my experience. The conversation would be something like this:

Friend: "So ... how's the dating scene lately?"
Me: "Not seeing anyone, but I'm meeting someone from OKCupid tomorrow."
Friend: "Oh, yeah? Who?"
Me: "Her name is such-and-such, and she's a teacher from Thatothertown."
Friend: "How old is she?"
Me: "A year younger than us."
Friend: "Cool. Good luck."

Possibly, a few of my friends would also say: "Is she attractive?" and I would probably say, "I don't know, I haven't met her yet, but it looks promising from her pictures."

Yup. Not until things are intimate and going well do guys start talking about their girl.
