What do you think about this?

Do you have any pent up anger over past relationships? If so do you think it's holding you back?

If it's holding you back how do you think YOU might constructively release it?

Revenge means someone still has a hold on you.......putting effort / energy into a dead horse. Moving on / letting go is the best cure..you're free. New found success is actually the best "revenge" and serves yourself rather than being a fool living in the past.

What a fun idea! Fun article.

It can be very satisfying to do something physical to put an end to a relationship. Burning his photos. Writing that scathing trashing letter (that you don't send).

I like the art aspect of this idea -- making a voodoo doll and sticking pins in it -- in the article it's part of an art exhibit I guess, so it's performance art + regular art.

It's good to be proactive about getting past anger and sometimes that means it has to be released in some way that's not actually harmful to anyone. (Unless you believe in voodoo I guess, then it's just mean and nasty!)

I am not currently angry at anyone from my past. But I have been, and it's not good to stay there!

These sorts of rituals can help a person move on and let go. It's not putting more energy into that person... it's letting go of the energy you've been putting into that person.

If it is cathartic and helps in the letting go process, which can be very hard after some relationships, then it sounds like a good thing to me!

Where are the dolls and pins?

It's a good way of venting anger, but you have to be careful not to let it consume your life the way a past relationship might. As long as it helps you move on, then it's ok.

I agree. Maybe it's a woman thing? Sometimes you just feel a release when you can do something completely stupid like stick pins in a voodoo doll. Especially in the crotch area. That does not mean you would ever wish physical harm on this person. I have never done the voodoo doll thing, but I have written a letter or two to "the universe", just to put it out there, and get it out of my head.

Seems like a good way of symbolically letting go of those issues/feelings! I haven't done this, but I have written a lengthy letter to an ex before. It never got sent, of course, but I held onto it for a while.

And just when you think you've seen them all.
