Yes, addiction is a dealbreaker to me, whether it be online gaming, drinking, drugs, smoking, gambling, or shopping.

All these things are distractions, symptoms of people who are unhappy with their lives and so seek to escape them with these habits. How can they really share their lives with you when they avoid their own life so much?

Speaking of games ... Starcraft II is due out soonish.

Ladies, prepare to have a lot of your matches drop off the face of the Earth.

The original Starcraft and Brood war are two of the only 5 computer games that I do have- brilliant games. The only computer games I have on occasion spent a couple of hours playing.

Guess this is one of the reasons I am glad to be in the older generation - I don't know but maybe one or two folks that are into the gaming world, and none of them are potential dates.
(Umm - clarification: first date next week with an EH match who worked in the industry for awhile and wrote games, don't know if he actually played them...maybe I should ask?)

Is the pope catholic? Do you want to buy a car from people who don't know how to drive? Do you want you call your landscaper for plumbing work?

OF course he plays.

Hate to say this, but, unless you lied about your age on your profile this isn't true. You were a teenager when the video game craze hit and any guy your age or younger might be into gaming. Most of them don't talk about it unless they have a reason to. I know I didn't. I'd say people around age 55 have a lot lower risk.

I bet you know a lot more people that play video games than your a aware of. Not that it should be a concern; relatively few of them are actually addicts.

I am 49 and generally date men in their mid 50's. When I was a teenager we hadn't heard very much about video games. I think Atari became widely available toward the end of my senior year. I have a brother who is 8 years younger than I am, and he is and always has been very involved in that genre of entertainment.
I have nothing at all against playing. Addictions in any form are incomprehensible to me, however.
