19 Things You Should Never Say to a Single Person - MSN Relationships - article

I know I've heard more than my share of these....how about you?

How do you respond when someone comes at you with one of these "gems"?

19 Things You Should Never Say to a Single Person - MSN Relationships - article

I know I've heard more than my share of these....how about you?

boy...Lori you must really want tome good responses today are you? Picking one of our favorite topics

My .85 on this

It happens when you're not looking.
Yes, last time I did this (not looking) I ended up in a ditch with stitches on my forehead. I've tried looking and not looking (while still looking)..it don't work!

There are plenty of fish in the sea.
Subliminal advertising? Yes....plenty of fish, but I always get the ugly grouper when I'm fishing for a sashimi grade tuna...must be the bait I'm using

So, why are you single?
I'm actually ok with this question. People ask out of curiousity which is fine...as long as they don't ask just to make conversation and not paying attention to your answer or judge you based on it.

You're too picky.
I'm not picky..those women are

You'll find the right person for you.
Impossible. Kate Beckinsale is married (Scarlett Johanson too)

She's out there.
Yes, but let's not talk about my ex-girlfriend's mental state. It's bringing me nightmares

Have you tried online dating?
Yes....and my favorite is "Ya know....I've seen the Eharmony ad"

Sure, my guy rescues kids from abusive homes, donated my sister a kidney, and picks up fresh flowers for me daily on his way home from work, but will he QUIT IT with the sports on TV already?
I agree with this. Oh btw is the guy still waxing her car on weekends/ LOL

1. It happens when you're not looking.
8. Just have fun with it!
18. It just wasn't meant to be.

Misleading platitude. Since most people spend most of their time "not looking," they appear to find partners that way. But, it's as stupid as saying "don't bother looking for work." For some reason, people who say this also can't do simple math.

2. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
5. You'll find the right person for you.
6. He's out there.
7. It was just bad timing.
10. He just wasn't the right guy for you.
12. When the time is right, you will meet someone.
14. Your turn next [at weddings].
15. It will happen when you least expect it.

There is also plenty of competition. An attitude that failure is okay due to a presumed surfiet of opportunity is not the mark of a winner.

3. So, why are you single?

This is a more reasonable question - since being single might be a choice. It should never be answered defensively, however.

4. You're too picky.
11. Well, when my boyfriend and I first got together…

This should be investigated to see if the author has either wisdom or experience to impart.

9. Have you tried online dating?

"Have you tried answering your e-mails?"

13. Wow, I wish I were single and in your shoes!
16. Some guy is going to come along and ruin your career/life plans.

It never hurts to have a reminder of what NOT to do - thanks!

17. But you're so pretty! Why don't you have a boyfriend?

Unfortunately the 50 pounds of fat on top of you isn't.

19. Sure, my guy rescues kids from abusive homes, donated my sister a kidney, and picks up fresh flowers for me daily on his way home from work, but will he QUIT IT with the sports on TV already?

The princess attitude didn't work when you're 25 ... but good luck trying it at 35. Maybe something will be different then?

Wait...if all us are 'not looking' maybe it's not a coincidence we're all single?

3. So, why are you single?

There are days around here when you don't have to ask.
