yes, I mean like that. If you were in your 30's or even 20's and you wanted to take the pressure off of finding a man to settle down with and start a family (or whatever such reason you might consider it) would you consider becoming a mother, alone through a sperm donor?

I can't say I ever thought about it much before...but...

men, feel free to contribute (not that we care

Nope, not for me. I became a single mom in my early 20's. Unless I have my other half in place I'm not planning on bringing another child into this world.

I never wanted to do that (age 55 now, no children). I'd have adopted if I had wanted a child (partner or no partner).

I never felt that just because my body could make babies I needed to do it. I guess a lot of women do feel that way though.

So many kids needing homes ... world overpopulation. Why make another?

for one thing, I understand adoption can actually be a lot more expensive than the sperm donor route.

Another, which I think is something we have to assess and deal with -- what if you are not certain you would have the same love and attachment to an adopted child? There is some risk there that I think is larger than if you are bioligcally related to the child.

I'd consider adoption but I think it's just two reasons to consider the alternatives.

How anonymous is anonymous?

Do you get to see a picture and consider other physical attributes? If not, then if I were a woman my answer would be NO. I mean, if you're going to go through the ordeal with all the risks and expense, you should at least have the ability to select good breeding stock.

How is it possible for a woman to get more e-mails from men than she can even reply to, yet find no one suitable?

Perplexing.
