Further to the creepy thread, what do you consider to be a sexual assault - either on a date or other setting?

Uh.. non-consensual sex? Having sex with someone who's judgment is impaired via alcohol or drugs.

Thanks for your input. I ask for both sexes' views as they may differ. What about unwanted touching?

Unless you specifically let them know that you do not want them to do that then they are not in the wrong. And you would be more in the wrong by over-reacting to it. Even then though unless they were reaching for private areas it wouldn't be considered sexual assault.

I agree - I wouldn't consider someone touching my hair or hands, arms as a sexual assault. However, unwanted touching on the private areas, breasts or even thigh - could be viewed as a sexual assault.

Further to your comments, would you consider it a sexual assault - if a man had not received any indication that the woman was interested sexually in him if he just reached over and started rubbing the woman's breasts (keeping in mind that there was no flirting, kissing or sexual behaviour coming from the woman, nor any indication that she was interested)?

Possibly, but if you haven't made it clear that such touching is definitely unwelcome then there will always be some people who see it as making a move, poorly judged maybe but still just dating behaviour.

Yeah grabbing or touching someone's booty, chest or genitalia could be considered sexual assault. I guess it depends on the context. If someone "cops a feel", then yes it's a form of sexual assault.

During a make-out session it's called progress. That's where being assertive and firm helps out. Letting the person know what your boundaries are is beneficial to you. I would think it's important to put the brakes on things early if you're feeling uncomfortable.

Technically, being touched without consent is considered assault. Be it the back, wrist, shoulder or elsewhere.

Sexual assault is defined as any sexual behaviour that makes me feel uncomfortable, frightened or threatened. It is sexual activity to which I do not consent. Sexual assault can be in any of these forms:

~ touching, fondling, kissing
~ being forced to look at sexually explicit photos, movies, etc
~ voyeurism
~ exhibitionism
~ sexual harassment
~ verbal harassment and/or innuendo
~ rape
~ stalking
~ incest

However, I'm in Australia. The Laws of my country may be different to other countries. I don't have to say no or ask the offender to stop for it to be sexual assault.
