This isn't correct really. Police reports are generally a matter of public record. During an investigation phase say of a drug ring prior to cracking the case, the investigation might be closed for a time, but eventually, it is all available for public review. We don't live in a police state so you can't really arrest people in secret here.

However, most newspapers do not report the names of the victims of sex crimes except in unusual circumstances. Like in the case of Shawn Hornbeck, the fact he was missing for so long was so well-known it was then impossible to avoid identifying him as the victim in the case against Devlin.

Why don't you see an attorney Mari? He can help you understand the legal definitions as well as your options so you can decide what you really want to do about this with all the information in hand.
I understand police reports being public record.
However, the OP's situation has nothing to do with a drug ring nor an a high profile, long term abduction. A sex offender's record will be public as it should be; however, not the offended.

I agree.

Try posing this as a hypothetical to someone who is experienced with working with people who have been sexually assaulted ... I would be extremely shocked if he/she did not categorise this as sexual assault.

The appropriate action was taken to terminate the working relationship. It's unfortunate this happened, and in no way shape or form is this any fault of yours.

Indeed there should have been legal repercussions as it could have easily turned into something much worse, thankfully however, this was not the case.

I, for one, believe this was not his first attempt at such a thing and won't be his last either. There is something that just screams "social menace" to me about this person. Utterly creepy and needs to be publicly castrated!!

Thank you for having the courage to tell your tail. I truly hope this will never happen again. I also hope this person is stopped before he does successfully elevate his behavior to a more menacing and deviant level. I am truly disgusted by his behavior.

Yeah grabbing or touching someone's booty, chest or genitalia could be considered sexual assault. I guess it depends on the context. If someone "cops a feel", then yes it's a form of sexual assault.

During a make-out session it's called progress. That's where being assertive and firm helps out. Letting the person know what your boundaries are is beneficial to you. I would think it's important to put the brakes on things early if you're feeling uncomfortable.

Technically, being touched without consent is considered assault. Be it the back, wrist, shoulder or elsewhere.
I agree. I would consider any unwanted touching sexual assault. Even during a make-out session if either party indicated that they want to stop and the other party doesn't stop, I believe that would be considered an assault.
