Ok so I'm posting a link to a youtube video of me singing a song originally played by Travis, a UK band. The song is called the Humpty Dumpty Love Song. I'm in the process of learning the chords, but I hate learning chords because it is rather boring. However, for this song I feel like it is worth it.

Also, sorry for the creepy lighting, it's just the best I could do.

Thanks for any and all honest feedback!!! Remember zero training, but I'm going to get training soon.

You have more range than I thought you would from your speaking voice!

Where do you feel more comfortable? With the lower or higher notes? To me, you sound unsure with both, but that's not so surprising given you've had no training.

I definitely think you should go to the voice training sessions and see what happens. I think your voice will benefit with sounding firmer or stronger and the voice coach should be able to help you with this.

It has been a long time since I took any voice lessons, I remember doing quite a few scales, and yes, they were boring!

Hey Meri thanks!!! I purchased four lessons from the music school I'm planning to attend in April. One of those lessons I guess will be voice lessons.

Scales, blah, I hated playing scales when I used to play clarinet and sax. The approach I like to playing music, is by learning what I can from the process of learning a song. To me that's more fulfilling and rewarding than these somewhat abstract scales. So, hopefully, I can learn how to sing this song and from it learn how to sing others.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!!!!! Oh also, thanks for not being creeped out by the lighting effect.

Bad lighting + sad song = creepy

Yes! you have potential.

I don't know that song, but it sounds like you were for the most part on pitch, which is a good sign.

The tone of your voice is very nice, clear and resonant, non-nasal.

As Meri says you probably have good range.

I bet with some voice lessons you will surprise yourself! Have fun!

Thanks Sassafras, I'm going to take private lessons in singing and guitar. The first lesson for singing is free though; the school I'm going to wants to make sure they have something with which to work. I'll find out then and post details here. If I can just get to an average voice, I'm happy!!!!

And yes, I'm definitely having a lot of fun learning guitar and singing. These are things I always wanted to do as a child but never had the time to and never could afford to do. Now that I have the time and money, I'm spending it all on me. This is finally my, "me time," instead of my "got to achieve my goals time."

The place where I'm going to take courses is itself beautiful and therapeutic. It is right off of the beach. The place is a music studio, music store, restaurant and bar. So, I'm just looking forward to going there in the next few weeks and relaxing. Making a day of it. Having fun!!!!

Tonight I'm going to be having some fun. We are celebrating a couple of friends' acceptance into residency to various hospitals. I bought the perfect beer for the occasion: Peroni, Smithwicks, Hoegartten, and Firstone. All good beers. Someone else is bringing wine and someone else is bring the food. So all in all everything right now is perfect!!!
