That's amazingly cool. If only you lived in SF Bay area

Cheers!

I'm a sole custody parent of two (boy and girl). Now my kids are older and will soon be leaving the "nest" as they say. I sacrificed my social life to be there for them in any and all ways that I could. I'm still pretty young to have two almost adult children; but I wouldn't have done it any differently.

Not long ago both my kids stated that they wanted to have a "talk" with me; as a parent you always cringe just a bit when you hear those words. Imagine my surprise when I heard "Dad, it's time for you to get back out there, you have done everything for us that any two parents could do and it's time for you to be happy". When I finished wiping the tears from my eyes I knew then that I had done my job, and done it well.

I know my kids love me and trust in my decisions so accepting a new partner won't be an issue. If the fact that I accepted my responability in life is a "turn off" for some women, then that women doesn't belong in my life that's for sure. Being a single parent is hard, damn hard but the payoff for all that work is something no one can put a prince on.
Freakin' awesome, man. Kudos. You sound just like me.

Sad fact is, most women 22 - 32 could care less that we took responsibility for our own lives and offspring. But when we look at our children, and feel that love, it's all good, brother.

Now that you're "free to move about the cabin", consider going offshore to find The One. But even if you decide to stay here, do travel the country and KEEP SEARCHING. The right woman will show up.

Why am I even advising you? You're handsome, articulate, etc

No worries, you'll be fine. Take care.

I'd like to point out that its not that you took responsibility that turns people off- that really makes no sense.

Some people just don't want to date someone with children. This doesn't make them bad or evil.

Exactly.

I don't appreciate someone telling me that I should be happy that someone took "responsibility". I have responsibilities everyday that don't revolve around childcare. If you have kids, are raising kids, and are making them suitable people to be around others GOOD FOR YOU.

That doesn't make you better than those of us that decide that particular headache is something that isn't worth to handle.

Bottom Line: Search for someone who finds your situation as a turn on and not a turn off.
