I was in a courthouse this week that has a safe that is a time capsule. It was closed in 1976 to be opened in 2076. It got me thinking about what I personally would put in a time capsule from my own life as well as what would be representative of this particular time (2009-2010) that would represent this time.

For me personally I think I would put a recipe book that my grandmother made for me. One of my most prized possessions.

As for the item that most represented our times I think I would suggest an Iphone. Sad, I know but what do most people walking around nowadays use all the time to keep in touch, etc.

What would you put in a time capsule?

Hmmm....there'd have to be a book in there, ya know. Just so if they had fallen out of fashion by 2076, I might be able to introduce someone new to the wonders of fiction.

As for what's representative of our times...how about a 3-month subscription to eH?

I was talking to a friend last night and it seems cursive writing may soon be something children don't learn. Not much is handwritten any more. I guess I'd put in my autobiography from 8th grade.

As for our times, maybe a GPS.
