This is a very interesting column about happiness, man versus woman.

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...2/how-be-happy

The article suggests that what makes the two genders happy isn't based on political correctness, but where they are coming from biologically. Men evolved as a hunter in the hunter gatherer society and so are more similar to males of other species than women. And vice versa.

I thought it was kind of interesting. Seemed somewhat true to me.

Although, promotions and more money do make me kind of happy ... and if my corner office someday has a window ... I surely won't complain.

I admit I don't have much use for the biologocal imperative arguments.

I make me happy. By how I live. By the choices I make. By the attention I bring to my own life and to others in my life.

If I happen to find a match in this lifetime, I suspect it will be a man who feels much the same. Dependence on external factors for happiness is pretty much a guarantee for unhappiness.

I agree with LBMM. I wish I had learned this at a younger age.

As each day passes it is reinforced to me that I have a choice about how I view the day, myself, my future and those around me. It isn't about being a Pollyanna so much as realizing and reminding myself that I am the only one that can effect change in my life so if something doesn't add to my life then guess who needs to do something about it?

From the article:

Forget what feminists, hippies, and liberals have told you in the last half century. They are all lies based on political ideology and conviction, not on science. Contrary to what they may have told you, it is very unlikely that money, promotions, the corner office, social status, and political power will make women happy. Similarly, it is very unlikely that quitting their jobs, dropping out of the rat race, and becoming stay-at-home dads to spend all their times with their children will make men happy.
I completely agree. I find it amusing how when the (proven) facts fit an agenda they're embraced, when they run contrary they are ignored.

I don't think that the article suggests that anyone will never ever be happy if they run contrary, its just that they will probably find the deepest satisfaction if they dont, not that they will have a life void of satisfaction or fulfillment.

Would you rather be alive today, or at some other time in the past?

If today, why?

If the past, when? And why?
