Have you ever changed your name? or wanted to?

How did you pick your new name? How'd that work out for you?

Nope. Other than when I was in first grade and no one could say my first name I've always loved it. I spend a fair amount of time spelling it, but that's okay.

I changed my last name when I married. Changed it back when I divorced, but mostly by accident. The legal secretary typed it into the papers and I just let it be.

I've known several people who've changed their names. Most seem happy with the change.

I wanted to change my name in college, just mostly in spelling. But it was expensive, and I was broke! So, I kept it as it is.

I'd be delighted if I got called Trixie in my real life. It's just me connecting with my inner 19th century saloon whore so maybe just in the bedroom but I would seriously love it.

If I could just change ONE letter of my real name, I would be glad to have it. I don't like my current one.

Many people who come to Islam change their name but I did not. I suppose that it's a way for them to psychologically begin anew much like how those who become nuns adopt their Christian name. I accept myself warts and all and my "transformation" is reflected in my thoughts and deeds. I honor and respect my parents by keeping my name but more importantly it is a symbol of how I have grown to love and respect myself as a human being.
