I am down to one dog, a rescue from the parking lot at work. He is a beautiful black lab, very laid back for his age and breed, and he came along at just the right time. Gave me something else to focus on instead of feeling sorry for myself.

I have two cats, Sammie & Joey. (Now all I need is a Frankie & Dean, lol.)

Both are shelter babies. Sammie was 10 months old when I got her. She's twenty YEARS old now, and still going strong. Joey was 4 months, and deathly ill. He's seven years now, and approximately the size of a small pony. He's the sweetest baby, though. He's a mama's boy, lol. My poophead ex never saw him, and honestly thought I was making Joey up (what kind of weirdo owns an imaginary cat?)...until the day he went from being lousy at a certain indoor activity to downright annoying. For the rest of my life, I will treasure the memory of the look on Poophead's face when 12 pounds of not-declawed "imaginary" mama's boy leaped onto his bare booty and started to rumble, lol. Good boy!

Isn't it amazing how some animals, once there is physical contact, are bonded with you for life? The organizations which bring many varieties of pets out for people to see at different locations have no mercy for the softhearted! As I mentioned, I never purchased any cat--all were surplus, preowned and/or abandoned kittens or adults. My present (abandoned and neglected but still trusting) cat wants to be near everyone. Once someone holds her, she purrs nonstop. Her attention has helped my transition, keeps me from feeling alone, and my friends enjoy her as well. (When I offer to remove her, everyone says, "Let her stay," and even some cat hair on nice clothes doesn't matter!)

You shop at Ross, too? Great! They are unpredictible so far as what/when really great stuff is available, but well worth regular visits. I bought an attractive argyle sweater off the clearance rack about two years ago. Argyle sweaters are popular now, and it amuses me to be so very fashionable in my (to me) not so new any more sweater! I've found many attractive items (including the dress I wore to my late husband's memorial) for very reasonable prices at Ross over the years, but I must admit, never a pet. You truly found The Superior Bargain! And, your kitty won't take off because of taller height, a higher income, a cooler car, or other superficial details!
I wish female humans were as simple as this female cat, teeheehee

what's her name?
I named her Lydia.

Strange, I know. The shelter had named her Tearz, because she has tear-like coloring by her eyes, but that sounded sad to me. I'd never named a cat before, and honestly, would feel a little weird, as a guy, naming a cat Cuddles or Speckles or something like that.

I basically just started calling out random names, and she mewed at that one, so that's how she got her name.

Thank you, lol. Joey's gotten a lot of "get out of trouble free" cards for that one!

I have 3 rescue dogs. Lucy is a 10yo mini Beagle who was set to be put down because of heartworms and kennel cough. She was curled up shivering on the concrete floor. I took her outside, watched her perk up and knew she was coming home.

Rowdy is a...handsome brown dog (?)...he's 4. I was told he was unadoptable because he was feral and couldn't be taken to adoptions because he got carsick. After following me around at the shelter for a few weeks, I decided to give him a shot because Lucy needed a friend. He's never had an accident in the house. (and he doesn't get carsick anymore)

And Jada. She's an 8yo 60lb Pit/Lab Mix. A woman had her from a pup, was evicted from her apartment last year, and gave her up. She had to be put in isolation at the shelter because other dogs picked on her and she wouldn't defend herself. Now, she camps out on the couch.
