Have you received a gift from a partner that took your breath away? Did you plan for months on a gift for a partner? What was the reaction?

On our 5th anniversary, we were spending several weeks in Hawaii, an extravagant trip. We had agreed not to buy each other presents, the trip was our present to our marriage.

But on our anniversary morning, I woke up and he gave me this gorgeous sapphire and diamond ring that I had admired for several years at our favorite jewelers'.

I didn't have a thing for him, not even a card.....

I do believe the pride he felt in giving me that ring, having kept it a secret, and not receiving anything from me except my love.....was all the gift he wanted.

I can't say if it was the most amazing gift. creative maybe!!

I was in a ltr at the time. Two of her favorite things were sunflowers and cheese doodles.
So once on V-day, instead of giving the usual vday stuff. I decided to create my own sunflowers...I put cheese doodles into little sandwich baggies placed an oreo in the center and had brown felt pipe cleaners sticking out of the bottom like stems. I made a dozen of them and had them delivered in a flower box to her office.

Since this site is PG I can't go into the reaction! jk

I had glued together 2 round ceramic candle holders for her that had broken into about 100 pieces. They were from her high school years overseas & they meant a lot to her & was upsetting when they had broken. That was a good surprise.

Wonder if she still has them?

For our first anniversary, my ex gave me a brass statue of two cats standing side-by-side leaning up against each other with their tails intertwined. I love it and I was sad when the tails broke off when we moved overseas and they were shipped-but they don't look too bad glued back on.

The best gift I ever got was from an ex-boyfriend for Christmas one year. He gave me a gift certificate for a local spa to spend about half a day there. As a single mother, the sweetest part was what he wrote on the card. "You spend all your time taking care of the kids and everyone else. Spend a day taking care of yourself while I take care of the kids." It was so sweet and thoughtful because he knew that I would probably never go if I had to make arrangements for my kids for the day.
