Weezer has a song called Heart Songs which they talk about songs which were influentual to them. Everytime I hear the song (I have the CD it does not really get radio play) I think of my "heart songs."

I was not really into music growing up - my parents kind of frowned on it-but for some reason a song I remember is

Reo speedwagon - Heard it from, who heard it from a friend....

In college I went out way too much (reaction to the overprotective parents). My bff was/is my sister and we would always listen to-West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys before going out--everytime I hear that song I think of her and our Saturday nights (I have it on my MP3)

Next would be Love Song by the Cure-totally "our song" for my first love and me. It transports me to all those feelings. Also Right Round, Right Round brings me back but in a different way (we used to go to dance clubs alot).

"Everyone Hurts" from REM brings me back to a really hard time in my life. I cried to it a lot. I would sometime follow it up with Shiny Happy People but it really did not make me happy.

Fast forward to Weezer again -Pork and Beans was a song when going through my divorce. My ex was/is a control freak and loves to give unsolicited advice and I would scream I DON"T CARE, I DONT CARE, I DONT CARE after talking to him sometimes. ( I kinda laugh at it now as I truly do not care but at the time the screaming helped). (oh and I tell my son he is so the Trouble Maker which he played in his rock band camp)

I know there have to be other songs...but these are some of mine off the top of my head.

What are your heart songs...and yes I am old.

I may be a bit older. I'll date myself. Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" the full version not the one the Byrds did. A bit later in the decade songs like "White Rabbit" and "Eight Miles" found a place in my heart. Now, songs like "Clouds" "Send in the Clowns" "Violets of Dawn" "Singing in the Rain" seem more comfortable. Though I do like a good instrumental, like "Foggy Mountain Breakdown"(traveling music)or "In the Mood"(going out for the evening with a friend or friends).

Love Song by Tesla: that got me through every breakup I've ever had...lol

Anything by ABBA makes me happy, too!
