This is NOT a competition, but just a way to share some fun. It was started in response to the thread “Great Questions to Ask”. Just post 5 fun things about yourself.

I guess I have to go first.

1. I like to fly things: Kites, Balloons, Rockets, Planes, Me.

2. I played the trumpet while growing up. Does that imply anything about me as a kisser? (Some tongue in cheek humor.)

3. I try to do latin dancing (but no claim about my skill, at least yet).

4. I’m an inventor, so… “Honey? Would you like me to shrink the kids?” My current effort is a modern re-creation of a musical kite ("Feng Zeng" or "wind harp") dating back to circa 200 BC in China. It's basically a set of chimes or bells to play on a kite's string. I just discovered the right materials to make this, and I'm thrilled by that.

5. I’m sometimes creative with answering machine greetings. Here is one I have used at work:[INDENT]“Hello” said Pooh. “Is there anyone there at all?”

“NOBODY” said the voice.

Pooh took his head out of the hole, and he thought for a moment.

Pooh thought to himself; “There MUST be somebody there, because SOMEBODY must have said ‘NOBODY’”.

So, he left a message, after the beep.

Me Next!

1) I play bass in a band that plays Joy Divison and Kiss covers. (We are currently headlining my friend's back bedroom. Don't be jealous.)

2) I am trying to popularize the whole making-passes-at-girls-who-wear-glasses thing. (I am one of the aforesaid girls.)

3) I like English food. Seriously.

4) I love museum gift shops. Weirdest merchandise anywhere.

5) Favorite Universal Monster: Frankenstein.

Thank you for your consideration.

2. I really like Modest Mouse music because even though it is extremely depressing the beat is happy, so it is sort of a caffeinated alcohol beverage
3. I love to sweat while I sleep
4. I like extremely hot showers
5. I can remember a lot of things, like how the conversation veered off to where it is now versus 15 minutes ago

Welcome, billy; and I am sorry to hear of your double loss.

OK, here are mine:
1.) I make a mean key lime pie.

2.) I once had to engage in self-mutilation (excessive tongue and lip chewing) to keep from laughing aloud at a funeral. It would have been rather noticeable, since I was the pastor officiating at the funeral at the time. ( I was giggling because there was a quartet singing. In 4 different keys. All of them wrong. They were all over 80 and wheezy, too).

3.) I had to memorize the names of all 50 states in alphabetical order for a bicentennial pageant when I was 14, and I can still rattle them off in just under 20 seconds (such a resume` enhancer, I know....).

4.) My fiance does needlepoint and cross stitches. And he collects guns, so I wouldn't recommend teasing him about the needlepoint and cross stitching .

5.) I had someone ask me once if I had a bathing suit with a clerical collar. They were serious!

Oh what the heck, I'll make it 6.) My 18 year old daughter has spent most of the week digging in the dirt for trash. She's really excited about it, too; as I am for her. She's interning at an archaeological dig in southeastern Virginia, and has been digging in the Fairfield estate's old "midden" (i.e., trash heap). So far, they have found broken wine bottles, broken bricks, old hand-forged nails, bits of porcelain, the femur from an animal larger than a rodent (not yet confirmed, but most likely the leg of lamb from a long-ago dinner), a bent piece of a harness, and lots of oyster shells. She is very excited about it all!
