Ha here is mine...

1.)I love going to my gyms kickboxing classes...what can I say, it makes me feel rather tough ....
2.)I absolutely LOVE playing with my dogs(Im an animal lover)...I just got a puppy, and I have found him to be rather good therapy for me as I am mending a broken heart,he gives me something to look forward too everyday that I wake up. He is a pit, I bought him a harness and he looks so cute when he tries to run hes only 9 weeks.
3.)I love to laugh, joke, and be funny...thats how my friends know me best for my humor...Im a big goof.
4.)Swimming.I use to swim competively since I was little till just recently...something about the water that makes me feels so good inside and Im at peace when I go home.
5.)Working with the elderly. I had so much fun working with them all, I guess my teeth are real white and one lady thought that they were fake and tried to take them out!Yikes...yea, but it was funny.I learned alot about myself while working with them, they made me look at myself more and change the way that I do things and my caring for people has changed because of that to. You have to have an upbeat attitude and I found that joking around with them, made them smile and they had a better outlook of the day.To think that they would wait or hope that I worked that day ment alot to me...I could have never let those dear people down even when it gets stressful on me.

1) I studied osteology a *lot* in college. Used to be, if you died I could identify approximate age, sex, and some interesting tidbits about your physical lifestyle and disease history from your defleshed bones. I make a hobby of studying faces and looking at bone structure even now. I’ve always dealt better with dead people than live ones…

2) I spent about four years working in a small auto customization shop. I can tint windows, calibrate cruise controls, install stereos, roll bars/brush guards, fix power windows and door locks on most models, install and service Ram/cold air induction, do basic maintenance, and I can clean a car like nobody’s business. I’ve driven everything from six figure brand new Mercedes and Porsches to rolling wrecks that would be hazardous to your health. The stories I could tell you about that place would likely make you laugh or cry depending on how into cars you are, and how much you understand the retail business.

3) I absolutely love a good story. I have books all over the place wherever I live, and I read and re-read constantly. I like everything from classic noir to history to philosophy to biographies to comic books, but the bulk of my library is popcorn pure pleasure books- s/f, fantasy, and some popular fiction. My family has some great story tellers, and I used to tell stories just to get a rise out of the family (outrageous, completely unbelievable excuses as to why I was late, etc.), but I know I’ve not got half the talent my grandfather has. His stories are *awesome.*

4) I can cook. I love to make experimental italian dishes, and want to learn to bake my own bread someday. It’s not as easy as it sounds, what with balancing the humidity during the actual heating and all. I like the challenge of it, and I like even more getting to eat the results. My best dishes are sweet basil pasta with sundried tomato garlic bread and spicy trail biscuits. I also dabble at fondue- cheese fondue mostly, with some chocolate when I’m really in the mood and have company to appreciate it with.

5) I spent a little over a year as a volunteer ring boss for an independent professional wrestling promotion. You know, the fake one. Considering I’m a little guy- about 5’9" and 150 in my stockinged feet- setting up and working with the ring and directing the workers- most of whom outweigh me by 100lbs at least- was hilarious fun. When working there, I quite literally ran rings around my workers. I got to set everything up from the big arse corner posts (which weigh about as much as I do) to the chain come-alongs beneath the ring that nobody else would touch, to tightening the ropes themselves. In addition, I got to do a lot of behind the scenes work- playing the music (which I was not very good at), tacking down props, and managing the egos of about 30 guys who get hit over the head with steel chairs for *fun.* It’s a rather unique scene, and not one most people have experience with.

I’m also rather wordy, and tend to ramble on and on (in print- I’m rather quite in public)… *grin* I’ll stop there, so as not to reveal *too* many secrets. And grace- the Fairfield dig is loads of fun. Is your daughter going into historical archaeology? If so, suggest UT to her- they’ve got the best anthropology department around, and their osteological stores are a great place to get experience with bones. The people down there were very good, and it’s a nice line on the resume if you’re going that route.

Okay, this is mine:

1. I make incredible chicken paprikash. My Hungarian grandmother taught me how to make it the way she was taught to make it in the "old country."

2. I absolutely love to read. I am always surrounded by books, and I often read several novels at once. I guess sometimes when I'm just not in a mood to read a particular book one day, I'll just find another one in another stack, pick it up, and start reading it. I love medieval literature, as well as the classics, but I also enjoy popular fiction, sci-fi, and poetry.

3. When I was in college, I sang in a band as a way to make some extra cash. It wasn't a lot of extra cash, but it covered what few bills I had, and I always had a blast. I really miss doing that. Now I mostly just sing along with whatever music I'm listening to.

4. I am absolutely terrified of snakes and spiders, yet I love the outdoors. I know, it doesn't make sense, but this is the way I see it: If it's tiny, has way more legs than me, and can move way faster than I can, then that's just wrong! Same kind of "logic" with the snakes, only they aren't always so tiny, and no legs. *cold shiver*

5. I was once fluent in American Sign Language. I learned ASL in college so that I could better communicate with a cousin of mine. Of course, by the time I had it down pat, he had cochlear implants and refused to acknowledge anyone who used ASL to speak with him! Oh well, at least it's still advantageous to know at work or in a public situation when someone needs help.

Billy - Sorry about your losses. I hope you can enjoy life because that is what your loved ones would want the most for you.

Okay - here are my 5

I like to eat raw top ramen, crunched up in the package, tear open the top and add the seasoning. A gourmet always adds seasoning. Kinda like chips.

I like the smell of gasoline. Reminds me of when I was a little kid in the back seat of the car and my tall father (he was the tallest man in the world) at the gas pump.

I like the warmth of copies fresh from the machine. Somehow comforting.

I have been trying to learn spanish for about five years. I know about five phrases very well. But I can understand what you're saying if you try to talk about me.

I make the best german chocolate cake ever. Once when I was unemployed, I made small little loaf size cakes and sold them door to door in my neighborhood. Made quite a tidy sum of money. People were soooo trusting back then or just incredibly sympathetic.

I love going to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned.

I can belly laugh on command.

Small children view me as a peer (one of the greatest compliments I've ever received, btw).

I have a closet full of costumes.

I am a Google Goddess.

These are such fun to read! Maybe we need a recipe thread for the chicken paprikash, the German chocolate cake, and the key lime pie....hmmm.......

Wootz, thanks; I'll mention UT to the daughter; and Guitierrez; as someone who visits a lot of nursing homes, I have seen what an upbeat caretaker can mean to residents there. You make a world of difference; bless you!

Good thread!

1. Love to play golf with a few beers in tow...or maybe it's beer w/ golf in tow??

2. Thinks wineries are a great place for a date.

3. I love beach vacations...there's just something so relaxing and fun with being at the beach.

4. Likes expensive gadgets and cars and motorcyles. Along the same lines, would love to get a sailboat one day.

5. Once had a date where I couldn't find the actual date location. So, technically, I stood her up. She wasn't pleased!

1: Years ago I once dressed up as "Magenta" and went to a midnight showing of "Rocky Horror Picture Show". Not many people know this!!!!
2: I am a painter and paint in watercolor or acrylics. Even sold a few.
3: I took belly dancing lessons 2 years ago to do something outside of my comfort zone.
4: I like to do logic problems, like the ones you usually find in crossword puzzle books, except I buy whole books of nothing but logic problems.
5: I have a thing for maps. I love to read road maps, topographical maps, floorplans, etc. (I guess I have an analytical side as well as an artistic side)
