Just curious. I see lots of girls that look as though they work hard to be thin and because of this they don't have any curves to speak of. Is this what girls want, is this what men want? Is it more important to be thin and shapeless or to still retain some weight and keep curves.
Any thoughts?

Good question. I am one that has lost a lot of weight some years ago, I dont' eat very much and I work-out hard in the gym 3-4 times a week for hours to keep the weight off and have gained a bit of muscle and a rock-hard flat stomach. I was feeling pretty good about my body when I started a new relationship 2 years ago but lately he's let me know that he wouldn't mind if I put on some weight, "you need some more padding" were the words. I am definitely not skinny, a size 8 and I have curves but apparently not enough fat. I wouldn't mind if I went up one size but due to the fight to get down to this weight, something makes me "panic" when I think about putting on maybe 10 or 12 pounds. I guess the way a woman see her body is different to what men see.

The question is do you feel healthy at your current weight and size (8). Is your preference for a leaner/thinner body, or a more muscular one?

I myself prefer to be and feel leaner/thinner/lighter. I feel healthier.

Unfortunately, in my pic and in real life, I am 20 pounds heavier that what I feel good at. Just b/c I can carry the weight, or b/c I fit into Met Life's "good" range, along w/ my BMI, doesn't mean that it's OK. My body knows what's natural and healthy for me. I'm working on it.

I've heard statements about women having 'curves' and I'm not exactly sure what is being referred to. The 'curve' that is most universally appealing to men is a small waist to hip ratio. As men and women become overweight their waist to hip ratio increases and if enough weight is gained the waist-hip curve can actually reverse direction....with the waist being larger than the hips. It really isn't the case that thin women don't have curves....it's that they curve in the opposite direction than do overweight women (and men).

bigger boobs and a bigger backporch makes your waist look smaller. if a woman has a little extra body fat, that's where it ends up. that's why fitness models get implants.

a woman can be overweight (to an extent) and still have an appealing body shape.
