Nice article. There are some wonderful books out there for broken hearts too. One caveat though; I do allow myself a certain amount of time to wallow in it. It is going to happen anyway, but if I make an agreement with myself that I'll be through the acceptance stage in 4 weeks, 6 weeks, whatever time period you choose, that helps. I also journal to express the feeling I cannot express to the one I lost.

I had never had my heart broken until I was 52, and then within 12 months it was broken twice. Well, that's not exactly true, but I don't think I took it as hard as these two -- mainly because they both deceived me. So I felt betrayed too.

Point is, set a limit on your grief once you've accepted the loss.

This was an enjoyable read.  I used to have the perfect cure when this happened to me, I rode my horse (my horse still loved me even though I would make mistakes).  But lately I do not have that in my life, I had to give up barrel racing along with loosing my job for having health problems.
I have found do something that will help get your mind off it, do not hesitate in doing things with a friend, even when the friend is of the opposite sex.  The older we get the harder a breakup is, but on the same hand, being older allows me to know what I need, what I will not tolerate, what I want.
The biggest thing is not to be critical of yourself, if you see you have made mistakes, do not beat yourself up over it, just make a commitment to yourself you will not make that same mistake again.

After two years of dating a lady that I loved, I was sent a text message on my mobile phone saying goodbye! If a person endeavours to end a relationship face to face then you have to give them credit for at least trying to end things in a dignified manner. When I rang to find out the reason why I was told that she had found someone else and it was time for me to move on. Then came a hang up. As you might imagine this took me ages to get over. At last I can finally see some light!

I used to be one of those that were in the catagory 'You used to think the phrase “broken heart” was just a metaphor', Yep that was me until about a week ago. I started loosing the one I loved. I haven't lost my children so I am grateful for that but the person that new me so well and understood me started showing his true colours. I wanted to lie to make excuses for it all. I wanted to hid the truth. I wanted everything to "go back to the way it was". Then the true blow came, I am pregnant. Now I am stuck. I have my beautiful babies, I have my house and my life. But now I have a product of a lie. And this product of a lie is growing within me and I have to live with it. This soon to be beautiful baby does not deserve to be born within this world havin the burden of his lies upon its head. How unfair. YET... To this day I just wanna curl up and cry. Cry until everything just goes back to "the way it was". Yes i may be young but I have a heart and it has been shattered and truth be told... it probably wont be the last time. No one can predict whats going to happen. But this read is so me right now. And it hurts. I never thought pain hurt this much. I've given birth twice and that was easy. This is hard. Extremely hard.

Break Up Survival Kit.

(If you did it right)

Restraining Order.

Year Supply of free lap dances at the local mammory bar.

A Case of Booze.

The single drunk single friend to drink with, against the advice of your attached friends.

A bail bondsman. (guess why).

A local doctor to give some scripts....

YMMV.

what an article, a good read.
well, 'broken heart' is caused by various factors such as failed friendship,
broken marriage, emotional and physical detachments from
parents, siblings, and even neighbors. whatever the causes are, one thing is common:
heartaches.
remedies: acceptance, forgiveness and love.

Similar experience with equal devastation. Only this was a marriage and it had to do with a blueberry muffin and was in person.

A text message? Man, that is cold, cold, cold.
