AAAAAAAAAAA

I live in a tiny town - less then 15000 people. Since I moved here for an awesome higher end government job I've been hopelessly single. So I joined eHarmony with optimism....

Guess who got matched with someone from her tiny town??

My first reaction was to delete my profile. Honestly it was scary for me. Then I read his profile and it was pretty amazing. I thought what are the odds of THIS? So I started guided communication... and NOTHING. At ALL. I've left him open longer then I have any other match.

So now when I'm around town I'm peeking around for anyone 6'6. Seriously that would make him stand out here. But I don't know how to act if I run into him. Do I smile? Wink? Pinch him bum? Run away?

Eek. I need some good advice here. Part of where I work is reputation based as well, and now I'm lost.

Oh and I look EXACTLY like my profile picture. If he read my profile and peeked at my picture he would recognize me in a second...

I've been matched with several people in my small community and I've had very little luck hearing from any of them. I wouldn't take it personally.

Dating in a small town is not easy since you have to look harder for local opportunities to meet people. It can be even harder when you first move to a small town and you don't know anybody.

First the fact that you did not get a response to your First Questions very likely means that he is a non-paying member and can't communiate. Since this is a Free Communicaiton Weekend you may want to send him a nudge.

Should you happen to run into him the suggestion to just say hi is a good one.

Good luck

If you do happen to see him out and about and have the opportunity to approach him for conversation, I wouldn't necessarily do it in a vague "do I know you from somewhere?" kind of way. Because it's NOT vague. However, I also wouldn't say "Oh hey! Hi! I recognize you from my eH matching!"

Consider approaching him the way you might approach someone you know you can place, but you're not sure *where* you can place him from.

Middle ground, tiny little 'fib' (maybe try to shake his hand, or whatever is natural for you when introducing yourself to someone) "Hi, you look familiar to me, and I'm not quite sure if I can place where we may have met. My name is (so and so)." If he picks up from there - great. Most people will say *something* in response.Occasionally you'll get the rude ones who mumble an answer and give you an odd look, but whatever.

Sometimes people are not accustomed to being approached randomly, and so you might have to do a bit more follow -up, and quickly, so be prepared, to offer a possible suggestion or two of locations/events where you may have been introduced to him. (A social event, work event, etc)

If he seems receptive to 'figuring it out' but hasn't placed it as eH - you may be on your way to starting a conversation. Gauge as you go. (If HE places it as eh, even better, especially if his reaction is a positive one!) Keep in mind though - he may not even have viewed your profile to know you're a match, he may not be active, he may not be single anymore.

If he does NOT seem receptive, it's easy to bow out gracefully by saying something along the lines of "This happens from time to time, I may have mistaken you for someone else. Enjoy the rest of your day"

No harm done. Good luck!

I agree.. My town has about 4500 and the town next has maybe 10000 and mostly kids and over 65's.

So us middle aged ones.... well lets say we know every one of them. I have been in the rental buss. for a long time as well and help with our soccer league, so I have run into everyone here at one point. although, do I remember all of them. No.... But I do remember all the kids...

He may ot either. If you see him I would just try to start talking to him. Say Hi a wink .. whatever to get his attention.

Good luck to you...
