I recently broke up with someone, and although we'd only been dating a short time, I realized that both as a result of putting aside my limited weekend free time to spend with him (which I don't regret at all), and from all the time I've spent just dating and trying to date in the last year, I've neglected my biggest interest- exploring the world and trying new things.

Idecided today, to make myself feel better, that I was going to put together a list of things that I have been wanting to do fora long time but haven't made time for for various reasons. The thought excited me and made me truly happy! I admit, I'm a listmaker by nature and I actually like writing things down, so that's part of the appeal. But really, the ultimate goal is to get myself off the internet dating path to some extent and to reinsert myself into society again! The idea of meeting new people is so appealing to me right now, I want to take full advantage.

I'm making the list tonight. If anyone's interested, I will post some or all of it.

Has anyone else made a list like this? What were some of the things you listed? Did you do them?

Sure. I'd like to see what things you'd like to do and experience this year. : ) Maybe they'd inspire me to do something.

I'm working on the list now - doing the research on options as I go along. Only on #3, but got several to go!

Hey three_eyes, I'd love to see what you'd like to do. People are so very interesting and diverse with things like this

I'm not much of a planner in my personal life, stuff just crops up. It is a big world and I'd like to see some of it one day ... but it's always 'next year' with me! LOL

Sure! Happy to post my list. I'm almost done with it - want to sleep on it and I'll post it in the morning. Thanks for the support all - I'm pretty internally motivated but it's always nice to hear encouragement.

Would love to see it too three_eyes! Maybe it will give me some new ideas as well!

I'm typically not a list-maker, as far as writing things down goes. But I'll keep an ongoing file system up in my thoughts usually.

I started a couple of new things a few weeks back, prior to getting sick, that now have to be put on holdfor awhile

BUT, the way I see it.... those things I can pick up on/rejoin once I'm well again, and now, maybe I can come up with some ideas of things to do/accomplish during the time that I have to be home, that I normally wouldn't be able to do/accomplish when life is "normal". See, always a bright side to things!

Look forward to reading! Great idea for a thread!

Okay, here is my lovely list. I have excluded two items that are a little too personal for these boards, and I may add a few things going forward, but otherwise it's complete!
1. Take a photography class to learn to use my digital camera and take some artistic photos
2.Find an opportunity to write an article
a. Possible subjects
i. Dating
ii. Online dating
iii. Law (real estate, banking laws)
iv. Toxic real estate assets – what to do with them?
4. Do an art trip to NYC – museums and galleries!
5. Read 10 books that I've already got sitting in my office
6. Plan my trip to Italy in October
7. Put together a plan for moving, including a timeline goal and how to finance it
8.Take a ski trip this winter to learn how to downhill ski
9. go whitewater rafting if my company has an event again this summer
10. Have a BBQ or big summer party this year at my house

What a great list. The trips sound awesome and the photography class will come in handy on those trips.

I love whitewater rafting. Plan a trip even if your company doesn't do it. You are in a great area to do that and you won't regret it one bit. It is SOOO much fun.

Are we all invited to the BBQ? LOL
