This may be a silly question, but I've been pondering this for a little bit. I run and then just started to cycle at the beach. When I run I get a few smiles, but I've been noticing lately that when I cycle and pass a man who is cycling there seems to be respect, friendly interest, etc.

Oh and by the way this isn't cycling on a beach cruiser either, I'm on a mountain bike, and they are either on a mountain bike or racing bike. Is there a tight biking community, or is it that you all (men) don't see that many women who bike seriously, etc.? I'm just wondering. I even stopped for a break last week and I had a guy asking me questions about distance, timing, etc. I just do it for fun and exercise, but I am rather intrigued by men turning their heads in what seems to be some sort of respect as I pass by or smile.

Now I'm working on smiling as I pass, not that it will do much good in meeting people since we seem to zoom by each other.

What say you cycling men?
In my experience, women who mountain bike seriously are not very common. And there are a lot ofmen who are very into cycling, and would love to have a significant other who enjoys their hobby AND can keep up with them. So if you are on a mountain bike and passing guys(good job!) they are definitely going to take notice.

If you're looking to meet a guy who cycles, stop at the places where others arestopped forbreaks, hang out at a trailhead before or after a ride, or slow down to say hello to one of the cute guys you pass. The nice thing about men who cycle seriously is that they are fit and have nice legs

I'm looking forward to getting on my bike, and my kayak as well. Whether or not I meet any women or not doesn't matter, that's not the point. The idea it to get outside for the enjoyment of it.

Ahh, if only more women had this same appreciation and admiration, and valued it as highly as they do the big bankroll and (now seriously deflated?) portfolio of some very unfit men!!
