Hi I'm a female who's 5ft 6in, and a size 15. I'm very proportionate all over and i'm just looking to get opinions on something.

When a woman describes herself as one of thefollowing, what does it mean to a man?

1) Average Sized

2) A few extra pounds

3) Curvy

4) BBW

Honest answers only, please.

Hmmmm . . . size 15 for your height is considered overweight. Sorry if you are offended, but you asked.

Asianfusion...duh i know i'm overweight, hello. I'm trying to get an opinion on what guys view these sizes as. If your name reflects your nationality then culturally I know your views!

PY thanks for your response. very truthful and that's what I think too.

LOL I wonder why no men would post!!!! (sorry I tried to keep editing but it wouldn't let me)...

I'll be the sacrificial lamb on this one.

Disclaimer: This is my subjective..personal...probably insensitive...thoughts and standard..with keeping in mind, there's somebody for everybody....If I get killed in the process and have bullet holes through my bodies or dead with frying pan marks on my head, it's been fun hanging out with you guys!!

1) Average Sized: This varies from state to state...I consider the typical 5'5-5'7" 145-170 average...but I'm in the pacific Northwest and I think people here in general tend to have maybe 20lbs more than say...Southern California (and depends on the region)..unless you're a runner or a active person then you're in a different category. This is obviously a gross and maybe ig'nant gross generalization...and I think this is the widest range (pun intended) of weight.....the only reason whyI put the weight/height there is because I base it on people at work, people I know, etc...I know nothing about size either so I don't know whether a size 8 is 'good' or size 10 is not? I truly don't know (and I'm glad that I don't know womens dress sizes to prove that I'm a 100% hetero guy!)

2) A few extra pounds. Also subjective...but I'd say average plus 10-20%

3) Curvy...a 'slender' and average person can be curvy....it's about having the 'extra' where it counts! LOL I can't be more graphic than that.....but let me just say, this is a plus in my book!

4) BBW

I think most guys will not have any idea of a woman's size number. I'm a woman and can't picture what size 15 really is with your height! Sorry!

There is what they mean, and what they mean when described as such by a woman. When I see these size descriptions (i.e. on an online profile), I think they mean the following:

1. Average sized: Average size for her height + 5-10 extra pounds

2. A few extra pounds: Thick

3. Curvy: Overweight

4. BBW: Very overweight/fat/obese

Don't worry PY, I won't let you fall on a grenade alone. I'm willing to take one for the team in the name of truth. When a woman actually says she wants honesty, you're in the clear no matter what ensues.

A lesson in dress sizes and the definition of "BBW"...Big Beautiful Woman

The larger sizes (those that you will find in the Women's dept as opposed to Misses) generally run from a size 14 on up. Misses carry sizes up to 18, but are not as generously cut. A misses 14 might fit someone taller than a women's 14 and a woman wearing a misses 14 usually isn't as heavy.

Katie....a BBW working her way back to the Misses dept!
