Although I am without my grade 12 diploma, I still consider myself intelligent, and I'm not the only one either. I've been evaluated by a local literacy counsel, and it states that I'm at a college level as is. Although some of the threads I've seen have got me somewhat discouraged. I had dropped out of high school for a good reason (at least I think so) and am currently working towords my equivelency (at said literacy counsel) so I can get myself to college, yet thats still a few years into the future for financial reasons. That being said am I undateable to someone of equal or greater intelligence or am I just feeling a little self-concious?

Was that a prank post or what? Okay, assuming it was really, really, real, then the answer could be as obvious as that equivalency thing pageturnerr mentioned.

Does pageturnerr (oh, to err is human) want to be dating material? For whom? To whom?

As far as being at a college level, that is impressive for someone who does not possess a grade 12 diploma. (Would this be like a high school diploma?) That being written--and if it's any consolation--some of the stupidest, unintelligent, moronic people you will ever meet in your life have not only attended college but actually managed to receive a degree (associate's, bachelor's master's, whatever) from it.

You're likely more intelligent than some of them right now. Maybe a lot of them.

There are many people who do not have a dip or degree and they are intelligent. In fact, some people argue that higher educational qualifications do not necessarily mean the individual is intelligent, for example they may have the ability to pass exams but they are lacking in common sense. Also, having higher qualifications may not necessarily correlate with a good wage, it might help but not always - just look at the IT industry.

This leads to your question are you un-dateable - I think do not think it's because you haven't graduated high school or earn lots of money, I think it depends on what your partner is looking for and whether the two of you are compatible and attracted to each other in the least. There are many variables for why someone is interested in dating another person. Most people like someone to be respectful, kind, caring, share similar interests and values. Despite the high value placed on education and finances, have more faith in others and yourself, what qualifications you hold and how much you earn is not a measure of you. I suppose at the end of the day, unless you try to date, you won't really know whether or not you're un-datable.Test your hypotheses and give yourself a minimum of three years to see what happens; and, even then, keep searching until you know you either have found the one or are ready to take a sabatical. Good luck.

Well, thanks for the.... somewhat encouraging post, and its no joke I just finished reading the "Uneducated?" post and found myself a little discouraged.Yes I am without a high school diploma, although I wasn't far from it, I was halfway through my first semster of my last year.

There were some extenuating circumstances leading up to my dropout, I was put into a situation where I had to move out of my parents house and I was working as a cook in a local pizzaria. My hours hours started to get cut and I was forced to chose between rent education and food. At first I had decided to cut back on groceries and just sneak some food from the pizzaria when the boss wasn't looking, but I began to develop a low iron level, causing weakness, extreme fatigue, dizzy spells, and later on fainting. After the second time I fainted I realized just how dangerous of a situation I was in if I had fainted in front of the deep fryer or the pizza oven..... well... I dont think I need to elaborate. Then I made the first of many bad decisions and left school instead of abandoning the apartment and moving back with my mother or father.

Oh the the rr at the end of my name is because pageturner was taken lol

Two of the most intelligent men i know have grade 10 education. Their school system thought reading and writing was important but had no way of recognizing let alone developing and encouraging their natural mechanical electrical and structural engineering ability!!! As a result they labelled them both as below average intellect. Now if they had a natural athletic ability well then a full scholorship would be handed over to them ..no questions asked

Don't ever let anyone define who you are,or label you because of what you know and don't know. A guy had on a T shirt that made me laugh. " I was born intelligent but school ruined me" Maybe you should get one printed up for yourself!!
