it worked out well, so maybe it was the smartest....but I'd never do it again without serious thought or serious savings... (I hope). Quitting a job across the country with noting lined up, no savings but the final paycheck, and no support system.

I might not have gotten my master's if I hadn't done it at that time but there was about a year of living by seat of my pants and soul searching (typical quarter life crisis what do I want to do with my life stuff, working odd jobs and living with friends or weird roommates and trying to be an artist or something unrelated to what I considered real work).I think I had good results but the mental and physical strain is nothing I'd wish on myself again!!!!!!!

ah...its nice to have a steady paycheck.....even with an angry pregnant lady co-worker, stupid underqualified co-worker, jerkwad boss....whatever......keep it in perspective.

I used to live a cabin at a resort in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The old tenant, and friend of mine, parked next to my cabin and went into the bar. I was on my way out, noticed it was raining and his windows were down. I thought I would be nice and roll his windows up for him, it was an old car. I walked over to the car, in the downpour and tried the handle. It was locked. So, I went into the bar and told him it was raining out and his windows were down. The gal sitting next to him said, "Well, if the windows are down, why didn't you reach in and unlock the door?" My face fell. That thought had never crossed my mind.

I was in an aerobics class that had only women, and I noticed a creepy-looking dude outside the door, staring in at us. He stood there for ten minutes or so. Finally, during a break in the exercise, I turned to the lady next to me and said, laughingly, "Check out the guy by the door--creepy workout stalker, or what?" She looked me dead in the face and said, "That's my husband."

I changed classes the next week.

Teacherlady, you should have asked her why she let her husband creep y'all out that way? I took a bellydance class once where someone's husband liked to ogle, and he finally got banned.

Yes, that is a good point--I don't know if he was ogling or if he was just staring at her trying to get her attention In a very small town, where I live, it's surprising I didn't already know them--and if he was a real pervert, I'd probably have already heard about it (Nice thing about small towns--you always already know who the perverts are. I think I'm related to some of them, too

I have another one. My ex is an avid fisherman. We lived on the lake and we were either boating, swimming, or fishing all the time. I don't fish. I love being in the boat, or on the water, but, I can't bait a hook, and I don't know the first thing about fishing poles. One morning, after he went to work, I went out on the dock. It was wonderfully peaceful. I looked down into the water and noticed a whole lot of nice looking bass swimming around saying "come and get me". So, I picked up his pole and dropped it in the water thinking it would be easy. I don't know what happened, but, the line got tangled up and the more I tried to fix it, the more tangled up it got. I tried to cut the line and start over and that messed things up even more. The wind picked up and tangled the line into this HUGE mess. I layed the pole on the dock and went to work. I had a fairly short shift that day and when I got home, the kids were home from school. My ex was madder than a hornet, yelling at the kids, trying to find out which one did this to his pole. They all know not to touch his pole. I couldn't let the kids take the rap for something I did, so I confessed. I still laugh about it, but, I don't think he ever did. FYI, I don't try to fish anymore.
