Hello - I like this subject - the most inspiring place I have traveled was to Cyprus .. since that is where my Fathers' family is from it was inspiring to see the homeland of my ancestors and meet cousins and uncles and aunts I have never known ..
and although it was a while ago, it still stays fresh in my mind , the moutainsides , monastarys, turkish mosques , that at one time this isalnd was a united island with many nationalities and cultures ..
it inspired me to think about howthe ancients , tile by tile, laid out wonderous floors in honor of the Gods .. to vist Aphrodites' birthplace , and meet such friendly people that once they knew we were family there , were treated as such ..
it inspired me back to my youth , and the never ending questions about why we segragate and how it is done .. and that at one time all cultures were at peace and got along and sharedphilosphy and ideas .. and accepted each other as humans , and took an interest in the difference of culture ..
i still aspire to learning about this, and go back in my mind as to why and whne it all fell aprt and hatred grew .. and yet when you visit , the mosques are still considered holy places of worship, whereasit is the opposite from the other side .. churches were destroyed and are used as places of selling goods ..
it still astounds me that they are fidning more and more thoughout the middleeast how it was once a peaceful, artistic , cultural area .. but for few who proclaimed superiority, even within their own race and religions, destroyed the mecca of a united people .. and still hoping that we here can overcome these differences first , before spouting to the rest of the world our views , not mine, on others as to how we should behave ..
standing atop the Acropolis and Parthenon was awe inspiring .. and my only regret is that I may never get to re-visit or go to the other areas that are as rich in culture again ..
