I run into the same dilemma. I can think of at least five of my guy friends who work Friday and Saturday nights, I work a Monday-Friday 8-5 job so our schedules do not align. They may have a Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday off and go out, but if I have work the next day I am not going to drive an hour to town and go to a bar, then after drinking crash at a friend's place and have to get up at 6:30AM to get to work on time.
Alas, that leaves me with either going out alone on Friday and Saturday or not going out at all. I have gone out alone a few times and it does seem rather awkward. One of these days though I will get the guts to buy some cute lady at the bar a drink and perhaps meet someone. Till then I always end up having a few drinks and walking out alone.
