Last weekend, I went to see the movie "Fireproof". Kirk Cameron, the teenage star of "Growing Pains", has been starring in a number of Christian movies including the Left Behind series. In this movie, Kirk plays the role as a fire chief - having great success at work, but has problems with his marriage of seven years with his wife at home. I don't want to give the story away, but as usual, Kirk did an outstanding job in performing his role as a fire chief-husband. The movie is produced by Sherwood Pictures - the same organization who made "Facing The Giants". The movie has a nice mix of comedy and serious messages about how vitial it is for a husband and wife to do things to love, honor, and respect each other. I laughed and cried throughout the movie (mostly crying towards the end of the movie). The funny thing is that after the movie was over, the couples were more in love with each other as everyone walked out. I feel that both singles and couples struggling in their relationships should see this movie. If you've seen this movie, what are your thoughts on "Fireproof"?
I saw it and was disappointed; the movie justifiably spent time showing the husband's struggles (and failures) in his marriage and the effort he put back into wooing his wife.

However, the wife's own failures were, for the most part, ignored and there was no similar growth for her character (an older woman, a minor character, does try to express concern when she is seeing a young, handsome doctor while married, but the wife dismisses her concerns and shuts down the conversation.

The movie would have been better had they showed that BOTH parties need to work in a marriage.
