My Favorites
Music: just bought new 'lil Wayne CD...but favorites: Bobby Darin singing Mack the Knife; Ella Fitzgerald singing Cole Porter; Randy Travis singing gospel; the local symphony which is excellent -- and assorted others. My new ringtone: Dat baby don't look like me. (in honor of John Edwards, who I supported BTW!?!) Great stuff. TV Shows: We Tivo 30 Rock, Big Love and Friday Night Lights (when are they starting those up again?), Daily Show and Colbert Report, Sat Night Live, though I don't watch most of these regularly but they are nice to have when I take time to sit and watch TV! Movies: Hands down: Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief -- if I could only meet Grace Kelly in that role..., the "new" James Bond movie, good car chase movies, Transporter 2, Fast and Furious, Bullitt, of course Books: too many to mention, the Bible of course, and now am reading Getting the Love you Want -- its been instructive for me on how to avoid the wrong woman...lots of mystery novels and historical books. One really good one of those was The Devil in the White City -- a true story in Chicago when they hosted the world's fair at the turn of the century, very interesting story of what went into building the city for the fair, plus the murders -- .I just finished a book from 1967 by D**k Francis, one of his earliest I think, called Flying Finish. It was very well done, dense, thoughtful and funny writing. Quotes: Only remember west of the Mississippi it's a little more look, see, act. A little less rationalize, comment, talk. F. Scott Fitzgerald More About Me: I am not really moderate in things political; on some issues I am v. conservative -- like the huge deficit, needless foreign entanglements with no exit strategy (yes that is the conservative position); the overactive Federal Reserve and the size of the federal government -- don't like any of that in general. On other issues, like health insurance, I am liberal. No one should have to file bankrutpcy because of no health insurance, yet it happens daily. -
